GIF UP!

Summary of the project implemented by NGO TNT

The project focuses on the participation of civil society in the decision-making process, digitalization, the fight against fake news, freedom of expression, digital and media illiteracy, fake news and the spread of disinformation are increasingly present in Montenegro. Our goal is to use creative potential of distinct cultural workers and combine it with the young artists and activists in order to point out the perceived problem. An animated gif is the perfect little form to express these kind of creative ideas. Its adaptable form makes gif the indispensable part of everyday communication. Its fast and effective way of conveying an idea. Combined with humor and satire they can make a difference.

Project goals

The general goal is to raise awareness of important topics for functioning of modern Montenegrin society. Participants of GIF UP! Workshops will acquire knowledge about above-mentioned topics. Through creative short art forms, they will learn to react and contribute to better digital environment. The goal is to enable them to further promote and represent these ideas. The specific goal is to train all participants for the production of short video forms that would resonate with the topics of the proposed project. The presentation and promotion of the final works and their authors through digital platforms, media, festivals and cultural events would animate local communities and the public.

Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries of the project are: at least 50 participants in the project’s activities. They will attend the project educations and get the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the project’s topics. They will be informed about the ways and tools they can use to develop content aimed at promoting a better digital environment. At least 100 representatives of civil society organizations, informal artistic groups and associations, independent artists etc. will participate in the Rockumentary Days – event where the results of the project will be presented in four Montenegrin cities. Indirect beneficiaries are formal and informal groups of citizens, CSOs, the media, decision-makers at the local and state level, and the wider community.
