Summary of organization’s strategic orientation:

The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia is dedicated to advancing human rights, democracy, and the rule of law since 1994. The organization’s vision is a peaceful, just, inclusive, and culturally diverse society where human rights are universally respected, intercultural dialogue flourishes, and Serbia and the Western Balkans are integrated into the EU. Over the past five years, the committee has trained more than 7,000 young individuals, fostering critical thinking and combatting misinformation. The organization has published over 320 publications and produced more than 30 films and videos on human rights and European integration topics.

Summary of the supported project: 

The Mladi zagovarači Evrope project aims to strengthen public support for Serbia’s European integration by educating and mobilizing young civil society leaders. The initiative will inform citizens about the benefits of EU membership and train youth advocates to promote European values and integration policies. Activities include interactive workshops, youth-authored research papers, peer debates, and an online media campaign.

Project goal(s):

• Establish and empower new young civil society leaders advocating for Serbia’s EU integration.
• Inform citizens about the key benefits of EU membership.

Beneficiaries: 

Direct beneficiaries:

  • 90 young participants attending workshops and training sessions.
  • 12 young researchers producing reports on EU integration.
  • 10 youth leaders trained for public debates and discussions.

Indirect beneficiaries:

  • 80,000 citizens engaging with the project’s online content.
  • Civil society organizations benefiting from trained young advocates.
  • Institutions involved in Serbia’s EU accession process.

Main activities:

  • Organizing six interactive workshops on EU principles, values, and integration processes.
  • Training 90 young participants through expert-led sessions.
  • Producing 12 youth-authored research papers on EU-related topics.
  • Hosting four peer debates on EU accession issues.
  • Establishing the Euro-Vision Youth Club for continued youth advocacy.
  • Creating and publishing an e-brochure featuring youth research papers.
  • Developing and distributing 10 video tutorials on EU integration topics.
  • Producing 60 short-form videos for social media (TikTok, Instagram Reels).
  • Generating 70 media posts/articles on EU integration benefits.
  • Engaging youth in social media outreach and advocacy.
  • Collaborating with experts and academics on EU-related discussions.
  • Conducting a final evaluation to measure project impact.
  • Facilitating connections between young leaders and civil society organizations.
  • Promoting youth-led initiatives through online and offline platforms.
