A dynamic group of young people from the municipality of Graçanica recently hosted the first televised debate organized by The Balkan Forum, as part of their circular economy campaign. This initiative, led by local youth, aims to promote sustainable practices within their community.
The debate featured Silvija Avdi, a passionate activist and participant in The Balkan Forum’s three-day training program. Silvija discussed the ToKeQark project, shedding light on its various activities and explaining the circular economy concept and its potential impact on Graçanica.
This initiative is part of a broader effort involving 60 young individuals from diverse backgrounds across four municipalities in Kosovo. These young leaders are equipped with the skills and resources needed to develop innovative solutions addressing climate change, environmental challenges, and the transition to a circular economy. The project also seeks to raise awareness among citizens about their roles and responsibilities in protecting the environment and supporting regional economic development. Participants from Ferizaj, Fushë Kosovë, Graçanicë, and Mitrovica are implementing projects designed to benefit their respective communities.
Additionally, the ToKeQark network connects NGOs, businesses, educational institutions, and local authorities across these municipalities. This multidisciplinary network fosters the exchange of best practices, collaborative project development, and support for youth-led initiatives. The project aims to enhance environmental sustainability and mitigate climate change in Kosovo. It focuses on equipping young people and students from various social groups with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to explore and implement innovative environmental solutions. The overarching goal is to improve the handling of environmental challenges and facilitate the transition to a circular economy in Kosovo.
This will be achieved through increased involvement and enhanced capabilities of diverse stakeholders, including young social entrepreneurs, policymakers, academics, and NGOs. Together, they are working to create tailored solutions for climate change and environmental challenges, benefiting citizens in the four municipalities and beyond.
