This presentation was part of Privacy Week in January 2024, an annual event hosted by Partners Serbia to commemorate International Data Protection Day. Recognizing its current relevance, the presentation focused on one of today’s most critical issues: safeguarding critical information infrastructure against cyber attacks as a means of preventing personal data breaches.
The primary beneficiaries of this initiative included key institutions—courts, public prosecutors, police, and the Commissioner for Data Protection—as well as the general public. This outcome was developed in collaboration with two esteemed external consultants: Dr. Milana Pisarić, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Novi Sad, and Ivan Marković, IT Expert and Hacker.
This presentation is intended to be a pivotal resource in raising awareness about the risks and impacts of cyber attacks on critical information infrastructures. By keeping the video available on the organization’s YouTube channel, we aim to extend its reach to a wider audience, providing ongoing information and education to stakeholders on these important issues well beyond Privacy Week.
the presentation highlighted significant concerns regarding data security, emphasizing that “based on the data that hackers have published, it is very possible that there are personal data among the stolen information.” While these risks are urgent, it is also essential to recognize that addressing them requires a thorough investigative process: “We should not be so quick to determine that the institutions are doing nothing, as these investigations take time.” This balanced approach underscores the importance of vigilance in data protection and patience in legal processes for a comprehensive response.
