Organisation of EDRi General Assembly & the Digital Green Society conference

The need for this result arose from SHARE Foundation’s long-standing commitment to safeguarding digital rights in the Western Balkans. With its extensive experience and expertise, SHARE recognized the importance of broadening its influence to a European level. This vision was further realized with the election of Andrej Petrovski, the Director of Tech at SHARE Foundation, to the EDRi board, providing the Foundation with a direct platform to contribute to shaping European digital rights policies.

In May 2023, SHARE Foundation successfully organized two pivotal events aimed at fostering dialogue on digital rights in the Western Balkans and strengthening the capacity of participating organizations through networking and collaborative advocacy. These events—the General Assembly of the European Digital Rights network (EDRi) and the Digital Green Society conference—were held for the first time in Belgrade, bringing together key stakeholders from the EU, civil society organizations, and activists from the region. The EDRi General Assembly attracted around 70 members, who convened for two days of in-depth discussions on critical digital rights issues across Europe. The Digital Green Society conference drew over 150 participants, including environmental and digital rights activists, researchers, policymakers, and community members. Multiple panels were organized, featuring leading speakers from both the region and Europe. These events not only provided a platform for knowledge exchange but also cemented SHARE Foundation’s growing role in influencing European digital rights discourse.

The Digital Green Society conference sparked a valuable discussion on the intersection of technology, environmental impact, and human rights. It successfully addressed key advocacy issues, highlighting the crucial role of technology in shaping both green politics and the future of digital rights.
