Executive Coordinator of the NGO SOS Hotline for Women and Children Victims of Violence Nikšić, Nataša Međedović, President of the Municipality Assembly of Nikšić, Nemanja Vuković, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture, Sports, Youth, and Social Welfare, Dejan Ivanović, and Co-chair of the Women’s Club of the Municipality Assembly of Nikšić, Ksenija Milović, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation.
The goal of this agreement is to enhance services for the prevention, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration of victims of gender-based violence at the level of the Municipality of Nikšić.
The signatories of the Memorandum emphasized that this act is not merely a formality, but a decisive step in the fight against violence towards women and children. It obligates them to continuous work, joint actions, comprehensive assistance, and support for victims and their families.
“Considering Montenegro’s obligations under the Istanbul Convention and believing that local action and community mobilization play a significant role in combating gender-based violence, the signatories will work on actively involving all relevant local actors, including the business sector, media, NGOs, and institutions. Their engagement will also include supporting the integration of violence victims into society by providing them with social and economic support for independent living, organizing campaigns and programs that raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote gender equality, as well as involving youth and the community in prevention programs,” said SOS Nikšić.
They expressed their expectation for productive cooperation in the upcoming stages of implementing the Memorandum and their commitment to building a society free from violence by providing support to those who need it the most.
