Analysis of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska – impact on media freedoms, civil society, and Freedom of expression
Summary of the project
A group of experts in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior will conduct a legal analysis of the proposed changes to the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska, which foresees the criminalization of defamation. They will then launch advocacy activities toward MPs expected to adopt this law to convince them of the far-reaching consequences of such a legal solution and its fatality for democracy.
Project goal
The goal is to increase the awareness of decision-makers and the public about the far-reaching consequences of adopting the proposed changes to the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.
Beneficiaries and target groups
The target groups are MPs elected in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and Council of the Peoples of Republika Srpska.
Expected results
- Preparation of expert analysis of the dangers brought by the criminalization of defamation
- Organization of advocacy meetings and analysis presentation to caucuses in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska
- Promotion of analysis
