Strengthening Regional Collaboration to Combat Forced Begging

The need for the project’s outcomes was identified through recognizing that strengthening local capacities to combat forced begging requires effective collaboration and regional knowledge exchange with counterparts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Throughout the project, the team significantly enhanced their expertise on forced begging, with expert consultative meetings playing a key role in equipping the ASTRA Support Team and project team with a comprehensive understanding of the issue and refining their practices through targeted case studies.

This partnership enabled the exchange of resources and strategies, fostering a more efficient and sustainable approach to addressing forced begging. By facilitating regional collaboration, organizations from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are jointly developing and enhancing support systems to provide better protection and assistance to victims. This initiative bolsters support mechanisms and empowers communities, reinforcing efforts to combat exploitation and reduce social marginalization.

The primary beneficiaries of this project are the ASTRA project team, the broader ASTRA organization, and civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Throughout the development of this initiative, ASTRA collaborated closely within its team and engaged with partners across the region to build collective expertise and foster meaningful cooperation. Civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro were integral to this process, enriching the exchange of knowledge and experiences. This collaborative approach has not only strengthened local and regional capacities but also deepened partnerships that support more resilient and effective responses to forced begging and exploitation.

The structured exchange of experiences and knowledge between stakeholders from Bosnia and Herzegovina through organized events is pivotal for future efforts to combat forced begging and strengthen regional cooperation. These events create valuable opportunities for sharing best practices, strategies, and lessons learned, fostering a collaborative environment where common challenges can be addressed more effectively.

Moving forward, this exchange will support the development of more cohesive and coordinated approaches to addressing forced begging. By drawing from one another’s successes and challenges, organizations and professionals can refine their interventions and policies for greater impact. Additionally, these events will help establish enduring partnerships and networks, amplifying the effectiveness and sustainability of anti-exploitation initiatives.

The insights gained through these exchanges will enable stakeholders to tailor support mechanisms to the unique needs of each region, ensuring interventions are both relevant and impactful. This collaborative strategy will ultimately enhance regional capacity, improve victim support systems, and contribute to a more unified and effective response to forced begging.

The organized exchange of experiences has been pivotal in bridging the gaps between our approaches to combating forced begging. By bringing together stakeholders from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, we have created a platform for sharing valuable insights and fostering collaborative solutions that will enhance our collective impact. These structured events have not only facilitated the transfer of knowledge but have also strengthened regional ties. The collaborative environment we’ve nurtured will lead to more innovative and effective strategies, ensuring that our efforts to address forced begging remain comprehensive and sustainable.
