Short Film: “Građansko obrazovanje – ludom radovanje?”

Civic education empowers young people with a deeper understanding of the universal values essential to any advanced society. It fosters awareness, responsibility, and active citizenship, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through civic education, students learn about the inviolability of human life, personal freedom, honesty, and accountability. They are taught the equality and rights of all individuals, regardless of differences. Civic education nurtures values such as fairness, solidarity, and compassion for the vulnerable, equipping students to advocate for those whose rights are at risk and to work toward a more just society for everyone.

This film examines the urgent need for reform, advocating for the abolition of optional subject statuses, clearer criteria for selecting lecturers, and the redefinition and modernization of teaching programs. These changes are all geared towards a singular goal: equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for active participation in society and the creation of a better future.

This short film features insights from teachers, students, and experts who discuss the challenges of teaching civic education and its potential when implemented effectively.
