Fenomena has successfully promoted examples of good practice among civil society organizations (CSOs), local self-governments (LSGs), and high schools in the Western Morava Basin, significantly enhancing community resilience to disasters. Recognizing the critical role of CSOs in fostering a culture of risk prevention, the initiative addressed the urgent need for greater citizen engagement and effective implementation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) policies. By showcasing successful collaborations, Fenomena has raised awareness about the importance of proactive measures in disaster preparedness.
The project engaged 12 NGOs, LSG departments from three towns, and three high schools, fostering a network of stakeholders committed to DRR. Through partnerships with the Civil Protection Department of Kraljevo City, Fenomena has facilitated knowledge transfer between organizations and citizens, ensuring that communities are better equipped to respond to emergencies. The experience gained in planning DRR documents is a significant step toward building a more resilient future.
Looking ahead, the momentum generated by this project will continue to influence community preparedness. As the Head of the Civil Protection Department of Kraljevo City remarked, “In the long term, we raise awareness and create future generations who will understand the importance of preventive measures.” By impacting youth and fostering multisectoral cooperation, Fenomena aims to ensure that disaster resilience becomes an integral part of community life.
