Summary of organization’s strategic orientation
The Academic Inclusive Association advocates for the development of inclusive policies, educates various stakeholders, encourages the participation of people with disabilities in decision-making processes, provides them with support, and raises awareness about the need to improve their position and rights (AIA Mission). The main strategic objectives of the organization are:
- Contribute to the social inclusion of people with disabilities based on inclusive policies and empowered individuals, institutions, and organizations.
- Provide support to achieve equality and prevent discrimination against people with disabilities in the areas of education and employment.

People with disabilities, employers, political entities, and employees within the team of the Academic Inclusive Association.
Enhanced Advocacy and Negotiation Skills for AIA Working Groups
Results:
- 15 people with disabilities enhanced their skills in self-advocacy and social activism through targeted training and participation in working groups.
- An advocacy campaign was launched to improve the status of persons with disabilities in education, employment, and anti-discrimination efforts (e.g., the “I Can’t Wait” card initiative).
- Public policy contributions were developed to strengthen two key frameworks for inclusive policies in Serbia. This included participation in working bodies and the drafting of three anti-discrimination strategic proposals.
- Over 300 individuals with disabilities accessed their rights through AIA’s support services:
- 160 received scholarships
- 70+ enrolled in higher education
- 40 obtained budget-funded study status
- 60 secured reduced student accommodation
- 50+ received other support
- Total: 1,000+ support services provided
- Three training programs were developed or improved:
- For social protection employees
- For journalists
- For youth with disabilities on media engagement
- A Program Board was established to provide strategic direction and collaborate with AIA’s professional team.
- Two annual communication strategies were adopted to guide external outreach.
