The Youth Roma and Egyptian Movement recently met with the Director of the State Cadastre Agency (ASHK) in Elbasan to discuss speeding up the process for legalizing informal housing for Roma and Egyptian families.
During the meeting, The Youth Roma and Egyptian Movement provided a comprehensive list of families awaiting formal recognition of their housing. These families, residing in informal settlements, have faced numerous challenges due to the lack of legal status for their homes. In response, the Director of the State Cadastre Agency pledged to prioritize these applications to clear the backlog and accelerate the review process. The partnership aims to result in the swift issuance of property certificates for the families on the list. Receiving these certificates will not only formalize their housing but also improve their living conditions by providing them with legal security and access to essential services. This effort marks a hopeful development in the journey toward fair and timely housing solutions for marginalized groups, and it highlights the importance of continued advocacy and cooperation between civil society and governmental bodies.
