Second SMART Balkans National Conference for Kosovo

Yesterday, SMART Balkans National Conference “Promoting Stability and Sustainable Peace: Challenges and Opportunities”, took place in Kosovo.

During two panels, activists from civil society and journalists from major media outlets in Kosovo discussed the role of civil society and the media in building sustainable peace, countering divisive narratives, and promoting cooperation among all communities in Kosovo. The panelists agreed that beyond the current challenges, there is still untapped potential to cultivate interethnic relations through collaboration and mobilization of different community groups to advance common interests.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo for Minority Issues, Emilija Redžepi, present at this event, expressed her support for initiatives that promote coexistence and peace among communities and emphasized the importance and relevance of the topics addressed in the Conference.  Mr. Sotiraq Hroni, Executive Director of IDM, stated that sustainable peace in our countries cannot be achieved without the involvement of citizens and communities and emphasized that any long-term solutions without their inclusion cannot be successful.
