SDK has initiated a series of formal meetings with young people in the Municipality of Podujeva. These meetings aim to engage youth and civil society representatives, including local youth organizations, to discuss and develop effective youth policies for the municipality.
Meeting Highlights:
- Youth Participation in Decision-Making: The discussions highlighted the challenges young people face in having a meaningful role in decision-making processes. Participants shared their experiences and concerns about limited involvement in shaping local policies.
- Need for Dedicated Youth Spaces: There was a consensus on the need for dedicated spaces where youth can operate freely and effectively. The lack of such spaces is seen as a barrier to the development of organized youth activities and initiatives.
- Opportunities for Increased Support: The meetings explored the potential for greater support through grants and subsidies for youth activities. Participants discussed how increased financial support could enhance the capacity of youth organizations to implement impactful projects.
- Challenges in Recreational and Cultural Activities: Young people expressed the difficulties they encounter in organizing and executing recreational and cultural events. These challenges include inadequate resources, lack of infrastructure, and limited opportunities for collaboration.
Objective and Next Steps:
SDK’s goal through these meetings is to compile and prioritize these challenges in collaboration with the youth. The aim is to present these issues to the relevant authorities and stakeholders to seek practical solutions and improvements.
By working closely with young people and involving them in the process, SDK hopes to create a more inclusive and effective framework for youth policy in Podujeva.
