On August 23, 2023, a key roundtable discussion took place as part of the “Act Locally – Collaborate Regionally” project, addressing pollution from illegal dumpsites in central Kosovo. The event brought together 20 participants, including public officials, civil society members, and media representatives from Media Center-Caglavica, Radio Kim, and Radio Television of Kosovo.
The focus of the discussion was on the current problems with illegal dumpsites, the difficulties in managing them, and possible solutions. Participants shared their experiences and explored new ideas for reducing pollution and improving waste management. Topics included raising public awareness, the role of youth and influencers, and even how beekeeping could help reduce dumpsites.
Media coverage helped spread the word about the issue and stressed the need for teamwork across different sectors. The discussion’s insights are expected to guide future efforts for a cleaner and more sustainable environment. This roundtable was not just about talking but about taking practical steps towards better waste management and protecting the environment.
