Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS)

Short project description:

This project aims to enhance the participation of civil society and citizens in holding the justice system accountable for its performance. It will achieve this by assessing citizen perceptions, raising awareness, and providing continuous monitoring, consultation, and evaluation. The project will focus on evaluating the public’s knowledge and perceptions of the judiciary, prosecution, and other justice and security institutions through a system that utilizes measurable performance indicators for courts and judges, specifically through the Rule of Law Performance Index (RoLPIK). The project will also strengthen the role and relevance of civil society by directly involving them in improving the performance of justice institutions. Additionally, it will support the accelerated implementation of rule of law reforms by providing evidence-based analysis, policy recommendations, and active engagement in the monitoring of the judicial and prosecutorial systems. This project contributes directly to the results and priorities of the Smart Balkans Public Call, with a special focus on improving the quality of life for citizens through an enhanced approach to information and justice. It also contributes to strengthening the role of civil society in advocating for the development of appropriate policies in the field of rule of law.
