CEL Kosova: Advancing LGBTI+ Rights and Celebrating Pride in Kosovo

CEL Kosova continues to empower LGBTI+ individuals and foster inclusive communities in Kosovo. Through legal advocacy, capacity-building, and cultural initiatives, the organization strengthens protections, amplifies voices, and creates safe spaces for dialogue and expression.

From contributing to anti-discrimination laws and gender-based violence procedures to supporting individuals with name and gender change requests, CEL Kosova ensures LGBTI+ rights are upheld. Workshops and training empower activists to tackle community challenges while maintaining their well-being.

Pride Week in Kosovo remains a cornerstone of CEL Kosova’s community engagement. Since its first edition, Pride Week has celebrated the freedom to be oneself and highlighted the ongoing struggle for equality and inclusivity. The event showcases the diversity of LGBTI+ identities, provides a platform for advocacy, and strengthens solidarity within the community. Cultural and social events—including “The Quein” exhibition, Let’s Watch It screenings, Girls Night gatherings, and a landmark drag show at the Germia Amphitheatre featuring 16 local and regional drag performers—bring visibility to LGBTI+ stories, celebrate achievements, and create safe spaces for dialogue, connection, and empowerment.

Through these efforts, CEL Kosova not only strengthens legal protections and builds activist capacity but also ensures that Pride Week serves as a vibrant celebration of resilience, identity, and the ongoing fight for equality. The organization’s work fosters understanding, acceptance, and a more inclusive society in Kosovo.
