Second Regional Forum on Youth Prevention: Shaping a Safer Future

During 2 days, 27-28 January 2025, in Pristina and Kosovo, Institute for Activism and Social Change (IANS Albania) hold the Second Regional Forum on Youth Prevention with the aim to examine and discuss the key factors, which trigger youth participation in local public safety mechanism, to prevent violent radicalisation and extremism of youth.

How to further enhance youth participation in local public safety mechanisms?

By fostering dialogue, sharing best practices, and highlighting innovative youth-led initiatives, the forum served as a catalyst for empowering young people as active contributors to their neighborhoods and local security efforts.

The forum emphasized youth engagement as a critical strategy to prevent violent radicalization and extremism, acknowledging that young people are both vulnerable to and instrumental in shaping safer communities.

Rising sympathy of young people towards radical and extremist groups as well as obtrusive presence of intolerance in digital space becomes more and more disturbing especially in the context of current political and ethnic tensions in the region, discourse on migration, social rights or gender equality.

At the same time we are witnessing that the values of human rights, tolerance and democracy are being challenged not only by young people but across our societies and even by public representatives and authorities.
