Short project description:
The project aims to make a significant impact on improving the understanding and awareness of both media and the public regarding the role of media narratives in promoting peace and interethnic reconciliation in Kosovo. It seeks to raise awareness among politicians and institutions about the influence of public and media discourses on interethnic relations and political stability. Additionally, the project will focus on enhancing the public discourse in social media, identifying trends and attitudes related to interethnic relations, peace, and reconciliation during politically tense periods. Through these efforts, the project will contribute to the promotion of a more informed and constructive media environment, fostering social cohesion and stability. Additionally, the project will contribute to the implementation of Kosovo’s Transitional Justice Strategy 2024-2034, specifically the objective of enhancing social cohesion in the country.
Project goal(s): The overall goal of this project is to strengthen social cohesion by improving interethnic relations and reconciliation in Kosovo through increasing accountability in media and political discourses.

Main activities
- A detailed analysis of media materials and political discourses from Albanian and Serbian media and politicians in Kosovo, covering the period from September 2022 to October 2024. The focus will be on 12 Albanian-language and 4 Serbian-language media outlets, examining how they portray interethnic relations and political narratives.
- Conducting interviews with journalists from both Albanian-language and Serbian-language media to understand their editorial processes, particularly regarding sensitive issues related to interethnic relations and reconciliation.
- This activity involves conducting interviews with political leaders to understand the political background of their narratives on interethnic relations and reconciliation.
