Short project description

The project titled “Empowering Schools to Support Children with Autism” aims to create inclusive and supportive environments in lower secondary schools, focusing on the integration and continuous social participation of children with autism. It seeks to address the key challenges faced by these children in public education through a holistic approach. This includes promoting peer support, enhancing teachers’ professional capacities, and raising awareness within the school community.
The project aligns with the objectives and priorities of the SMART Balkans initiative, contributing to the strengthening of participatory democracy and the development of inclusive societies in Kosovo and the Western Balkans. By promoting equality in education and well-being for students with autism, it also works to foster a culture of understanding and peace in the community, contributing to good governance and social stability.

Project goal(s): The ultimate goal is to ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities, have equal opportunities to learn and thrive in school, helping to create a more inclusive, accepting, and supportive educational environment for children with autism.

Target groups and beneficiaries:

Students with Autism: 75 (seventy-five) students with autism from lower secondary schools will directly benefit from increased inclusion in learning, social integration, and equal opportunities. General public.

Identification and Recruitment of Participating Students in peer support groups
Formation of Support Groups and Implementation of Social Activities for Support Groups
Identification and Selection of Autism-Friendly Spaces for Children
Development of the Training Program for teachers
Organization of Training Sessions
Development of the Awareness Campaign
Creation and Distribution of Online Promotional Materials
