Summary of the project implemented by CGO

The project aims to strengthen the awareness of citizensry in Montenegro about the link between the Europeanization and the country’s democratization. It seeks to improve public knowledge about EU accession negotiations, strengthen regional cooperation and dialogue between civil society and authorities. Activities include the production and broadcast of six dialogue-format TV programmes, providing perspectives from institutions, civil society, media and international organizations from Montenegro and the region, along with organizing a conference to mark13 years of Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations. These efforts will reach at least 30,000 viewers and increase public support for EU integration.

Project goals

Overall objective: Raising citizens’ awareness of the connection between Europeanization and the country’s democratization.

Specific Objectives:

  • Improving Montenegrin citizens’ knowledge and understanding of the content and dynamics of EU accession negotiations;
  • Strengthening regional cooperation by facilitating the exchange of experiences in the EU integration process;
  • Enhancing collaboration between civil society and the government in Montenegro through dialogue on the core principles of EU integration.

Beneficiaries

  • Officials and Institutional Representatives (150 participants) – Including members of the Government and Parliament of Montenegro, the judiciary, local administration, the non-governmental sector, academia, media, the diplomatic corps, and international organizations.
  • Experts and Representatives from Regional Organizations (15 participants) – Who will share their experiences from the EU integration process in their respective countries.
  • The ultimate beneficiaries will be Montenegrin citizens – Through TV programs and promotional activities on social media, they will receive clearer and more accurate information about European integration, enabling them to better understand the process and participate more actively. The expected audience reach is at least 30,000 people.

Main activities

  • Consultations with experts, decision-makers and representatives of civil society
  • Engagement of experts and representatives of institutions from the region as guests of the TV shows
  • Production and broadcasting of 6 TV shows “Civic Angle”
  • Preparation of visuals and promotional materials
  • Promotion of shows via social networks and digital platforms
  • Distribution of key statements and messages from the shows
  • Organization of a conference on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Montenegro’s negotiations with the EU
  • Preparation and presentation of the conference conclusions and recommendations
  • Preparation of a report on the implementation of the project
