Workshops “Questioning the Past, Shaping the Future”
The workshops “Questioning the Past, Shaping the Future” are organised by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Montenegro, Youth Center CK13 (Novi Sad, Serbia) and “KVART” Youth Center (Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina) as a part of the project “Right to peace” which is supported through the regional SMART Balkans program.
The workshops will be held from November 17 to 21 in Podgorica (Civic House, Petra Dedića 26) and will gather 15-20 young people from Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The importance of these workshops are significant for the young people from the region because the consequences of war crimes committed during the 90s are still present today as a personal and transgenerational trauma. We still feel the consequences of inadequate dealing with the past, that’s why we have a present that is difficult for young people to understand. Therefore, the significance of the workshops is reflected in the fact that they will help the political understanding and processing of this shared experience. Based on facilitated conversation, active listening and trust, the experiential workshops will enable the creation of a community of those who understand and care for each other, thereby enabling the transformation of transgenerational trauma and empowering young people to overcome the challenges on the path of peacebuilding in the region. The workshop will be organised in Montenegrin, Serbian and Bosnian language.
